RVLT Surf Plans to Pay It Forward in 2015

Season nine of the Revolt Summer Surf Series – Pier II Pier – Pro Am and season two of the SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY Paddle Race Series are coming up fast!RVLT Surf plans to Pay It Forward in 2015 and Social Responsibility will be the theme of this year’s Green Beach Fest at both series – RVLT Surf has Donated space at each event to The Surfrider Foundation, Sea Save Foundation and Ocean Force Foundation, offering them use of the platform to raise awareness towards critical environmental issues. The SD Burn Institute, Swell Hearts and Challenged Athletes Foundation have also been invited to the events to raise awareness & funding for their important causes.

RVLT Surf Co founder Leslie Terhorst explains, “One of our goals this season with both the Revolt Summer Surf Series and the Sunday Races is to Pay-It-Forward. There are so many great charities out there and we’ve invited several down to the events to set up, and let people know more about their cause.” Leslie continues, “These are water events, so organizations that take care of our oceans, waterways & beaches are definitely very important to us. Also, we’ve invited several foundations close to our hearts, including Swell Hearts, a foundation raising awareness for the vital importance of organ donation. The San Diego Burn Institute will be at each event too. We know there are a lot of people here in SD County that have been impacted by fire, and during this record drought, it could even save lives.”

RVLT Surf plans to Pay it Forward at the Revolt Summer Surf Series with new partners and entirely new contest formats. That means an entirely new RSSS staff & team of judges. Judges are comprised of actual surfers, industry icons & local shapers. Short boarders judge short boarders, long boarders judge long boarders, and so on. Pro Am divisions will take home cash prizes at each event – FOR BOTH MEN & WOMEN. Make it fun for everyone – double eliminations for the young surfers. Freebees, giveaways & cool raffles all day long. A pancake breakfast in the mornin’ for all the athletes – Killer grub at lunch! Fun beach activities & contests will make sure everyone has a great day. Get back to basics.

RVLT Surf will work closely with local brick & mortar surf shops in each community that embrace our local surfers, board shapers & manufacturers. Divisions include Pro Am Men & Women, Jr. Men & Women, Open Men & Women’s Longboard & groms. Pro Am Men, Open Men & Women and Junior Men & Women SUP Surf divisions. And finally the Revolt Surf Shop Challenge with 4 man teams will crown the Top Surf Shop. For nine consecutive years the independent, grassroots surf series has provided a stage for both male and female surfers (professional and amateur) to perform in their sport and be recognized for their achievements. This season will see 5 events at classic Pacific Beach, Mission Beach & Ocean Beach surf breaks.

RVLT Surf also looks forward to The Sunday Sunday Sunday Race series – kicking off on June 7th with 8, 4 & 1.5 mile courses, exclusively for SUP & Prone paddlers. All races are run entirely within Mission Bay. Elite divisions are designed to attract top athletes from around the globe.

Last season saw Mo Frietas, Chuck Glynn & six time world SUP Champion Kai Lenny at the event. Several challenged athletes competed in the races and their determination & positive attitudes were truly an inspiration for everyone. This season elite racer cash purses, more divisions, challenging distance & sprint courses and other fun elements including: SUP drag races, a blind draw relay, Kids Fun Run & the Log Roll Challenge will make this event a must-attend for elite athletes, weekend warriors & fans of the sport.

These events will be a virtual ‘who’s who’ of  the SUP & Prone paddle Industry, where top brands & manufacturers will line the banks of Bonita Cove, offering racing enthusiasts a look at their latest gear & even opportunities to demo their products. Great music, food & drink as well as the Green Beach Fest, will keep spectators engaged as the race drama unfolds.

The final RSSS event of 2015 will be the Battle At BeachFest on October 3 and will include the Firefighter’s Challenge. Firefighters will compete in their own shortboard division during BeachFest – proceeds will be donated to the San Diego Burn Institute. Beachfest is a massive festival near Crystal pier that attracts an estimated 70,000. It includes 3 stages with Live music, a food court & beer garden and hundreds of vendors & exhibits. The RSSS is one of the Signature Sporting events that run during and alongside the festival.
